Trump warns Iran to “get serious soon” amid negotiations

2026-03-26 - 14:01

President Donald Trump voiced frustration today with Iran’s approach to negotiations, warning that time is running out for a deal. “The Iranian negotiators are very different and ‘strange.’ They are ‘begging’ us to make a deal, which they should be doing since they have been militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback, and yet they publicly state that they are only ‘looking at our proposal.’ WRONG!!!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty,” he added. Trump’s post comes as he said earlier this week that the US and Iran were negotiating an end to the conflict, marking a sharp shift from his earlier posture. The president’s warning also follows remarks yesterday in which he said Iran wants to “make a deal so badly but they’re afraid to say it” publicly out of fear of internal repercussions. The White House has said talks are not at a dead end, even after Tehran did not immediately accept a US-backed framework to end the war. US officials told CNN the administration is working to arrange a potential meeting in Pakistan as part of efforts to find an off-ramp to the conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has acknowledged that messages have been exchanged through intermediaries but signaled skepticism of Washington’s position.
