Tourism min. discusses proposals to develop diving, marine activities in Sharm El Sheikh

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy met with a number of members of the Diving and Marine Activities Chamber in Sharm El-Sheikh as part of his current visit to the city and within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to maintain direct communication with tourism sector stakeholders to support and develop specialized tourism activities. During the meeting, the minister listened to the chamber members’ views and proposals on ways to develop diving activities in Sharm El-Sheikh, in a way that would further strengthen Egypt’s position as one of the world’s leading destinations for diving tourism. The meeting also reviewed the key challenges facing the sector and discussed mechanisms to address them in a manner that ensures its sustainability. Fathy stressed the importance of activating the role of the Egyptian Tourism Federation and its affiliated chambers in regulating work within the tourism sector. He also highlighted the need to enhance coordination among chambers concerned with activities related to diving through holding coordination meetings to discuss existing challenges and develop practical and swift solutions. He noted that such coordination would help improve the business environment and support the growth of specialized tourism activities, stressing the importance of providing the ministry with the outcomes of these meetings. The minister also underlined the need for each chamber to adhere to its roles and responsibilities in order to ensure integration within the sector and serve the interests of Egypt’s tourism industry.
