Experts and politicians affirmed that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s Gulf tour reflects Egypt’s unwavering stance on the security and stability of the Gulf states. Political analyst Abdel-Moneim Said noted that the president’s Gulf tour comes at a highly complex time for the region, requiring high-level coordination among leaders in light of difficult challenges facing the future and stability of the region. Said added that the tour carries important political and media messages amidst escalating international and regional tensions. Egypt is moving towards de-escalation, he noted, and is not merely seeking a ceasefire. He stressed that the current phase is one of “decision-making.” Political analyst Mostafa al-Fiqi affirmed that the Gulf tour clearly reflects Egypt’s firm position in rejecting any aggression targeting the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council states. This visit underscores Egypt’s rejection of what he described as Iran’s unjustified actions toward the Gulf states, and carries a clear message to its Gulf brethren: “We stand with you.” Fiqi added that the phrase “within striking distance,” frequently used by the Cairo government, is a genuine expression of Egypt’s unwavering commitment to supporting the security and stability of the region, as the security of the Gulf is an integral part of Egyptian national security. An expert in international relations and regional security and advisor at the Al-Ahram Center for Strategic and Political Studies, Hassan Abu-Taleb, explained that Egypt – through its relationship with the Gulf states – plays a crucial role in containing tensions and preventing escalation and war. Abu-Taleb added that Egypt has condemned Iran’s attacks on the Arab Gulf states, emphasizing that Egypt is also coordinating efforts to prevent the region from descending into chaos.
