Saudi Arabia Allows Emergency Visas for Egyptians Arriving by Land

Egyptians arriving by land from neighbouring Gulf countries can now obtain an emergency entry visa at Saudi border crossings, allowing them to travel onward from Saudi airports back to Egypt, the Egyptian Embassy in Riyadh announced on Monday, 2 March. In a statement, the embassy said the exceptional measure applies to Egyptian nationals entering Saudi Arabia through land ports. Those eligible can receive a visa on arrival and book flights from Saudi cities to return home, amid ongoing regional flight disruptions. The move comes as airspace closures across parts of the Middle East have left thousands stranded following recent military escalation in the region. In a separate statement issued on Sunday, 1 March, EgyptAir announced the continued suspension of flights from Cairo to several regional destinations until further notice. The affected cities include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Beirut, Doha, Amman, Dammam, Bahrain, Baghdad, Erbil, and Kuwait. The airline said it is closely monitoring developments through its Integrated Operations Center and coordinating with relevant authorities, stressing that safety remains its top priority.
