President Sisi, his Indonesian counterpart discuss strategic partnership relations, situation in Middle East

CAIRO, March 23 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received Monday a phone call from Indonesian President Prabawo Subianto. Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy stated that the Indonesian president extended his congratulations to president Sisi on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, expressing his best wishes for continued prosperity and welfare for the Egyptian people. President Sisi appreciated these greetings, offering his own congratulations to the Indonesian president on this blessed occasion; Shennawy also mentioned that the contact tackled the regional situation in the Middle East, with president Sisi discussing Egypt’s efforts to halt the ongoing escalation in the region and contain its repercussions, particularly in light of its negative economic effects and consequences on regional and global stability. In this regard, president Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the security and sovereignty of the brotherly Arab nations and its firm rejection of any attempts to destabilize or violate their sovereignty under any pretext. The spokesman added that the Indonesian president expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to restore regional stability and de-escalate tensions, emphasizing the importance of reducing the current tensions. He also expressed his country’s keenness to continue close consultations with Egypt to promote peace and stability regionally and internationally. The spokesman further noted that the contact also touched on the existing strategic partnership between Egypt and Indonesia, with both presidents expressing their appreciation for the historical and strategic relations between the two countries.
