NMA reaffirms ban on hosting fortune-tellers, astrologers

Head of the National Media Authority (NMA) Ahmed el Muslimani said on Thursday the authority will continue its policy banning the hosting of fortune-tellers and astrologers across all its radio and television channels, as well as its website and Radio and Television magazine.

The NMA chairman called for examining the future of the region and the world through scientific thinking, logic and the tools of political science and other disciplines, urging reliance on scientists, academics and intellectuals in this regard.

He also urged media outlets to refrain from promoting the myths of astrologers and charlatans, regardless of their popularity, saying they seek to undermine reason, trivialize knowledge and build false fame based on random, unfounded predictions.

Muslimani said the media’s duty is to confront ignorance, elevate science and promote rational thinking.
