Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy on Tuesday witnessed the start of transferring the wooden planks of the second Khufu Boat from its restoration site at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) to its display location at the Khufu Boats Museum within the museum complex, where the reassembly process was carried out in front of the cameras.

The ceremony was attended by Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority; Khaled Hassan, Deputy CEO for Antiquities Affairs; Eissa Zidan, Head of the restoration team and a large number of local and international media representatives.

It is worth noting that the first and second boats of King Khufu were discovered in 1954 beside the Great Pyramid.

The first Khufu Boat was restored and placed on display at a museum in the Pyramids area.
