CAIRO, March 3 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Tuesday Egypt’s firm stand calling for de-escalation and prioritizing diplomatic solutions to avoid a widening of the conflict and the region’s slide into a wave of violence that would be difficult to contain. The remarks came during two phone calls the foreign minister received from Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Nadezhda Neynsky and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Montenegro Ervin Ibrahimović to discuss developments regarding ongoing military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional security and stability. During the calls, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s assessment of the situation and stressed that military escalation would only aggravate conditions and increase the suffering of peoples. He underscored the importance of respecting states’ sovereignty, upholding good neighborly relations and exercising restraint at this critical stage. The foreign minister also emphasized the need to intensify regional and international efforts to contain the crisis and prevent further deterioration. (MENA)
