Egypt to see drop in temperatures, rainy weather until Saturday

2026-03-23 - 08:11

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts unstable weather conditions across most of the country from Tuesday, March 24 to Saturday, March 28, with temperatures expected to drop nationwide until the end of the week. Tuesday will be cold at night and in the early morning, becoming warmer during the day in most areas. There will be a chance of light to moderate rain along the northern coast and in the northern Lower Egypt, which may extend lightly to Cairo at intervals. Unstable weather conditions are expected throughout Wednesday, March 25 to Thursday, March 26, accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity across most of the country, with temperatures dropping by two to three degrees Celsius. Satellite imagery picked up significant wind activity during this period, with speeds ranging between 40-50 km/h, stirring up sand and dust and potentially reducing horizontal visibility. The EMA also predicted continued wind activity on Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, with intermittent periods of highs and lows, and ongoing monitoring of rapidly changing weather maps. Temperatures Greater Cairo is expected to experience highs between 22C and 30C during this period, while lows will range between 11C to 13C. A noticeable decrease in temperatures is expected along the northern coast and in Upper Egypt, with a relative increase in temperatures in southern Upper Egypt. The EMA advised citizens to exercise caution, especially during periods of high winds and rain, and wear the appropriate clothing. Edited translation from Al-Masry Al-Youm
