Egypt’s FM reaffirms solidarity with Oman during Muscat visit

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty met Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, in Muscat as part of a regional tour aimed at addressing escalating tensions in the Middle East and supporting efforts to reduce conflict in the region. During the meeting, Abdelatty conveyed greetings from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Oman in confronting security challenges and what he described as unjustified attacks. According to Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, the Egyptian minister praised the Omani leader’s role in mediation efforts and his commitment to preserving regional stability. Sultan Haitham asked Abdelatty to convey his greetings to President Al-Sisi and expressed appreciation for Egypt’s consistent support for Gulf security and its broader role in safeguarding Arab national security. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of attacks targeting Omani territory, stressing that the security of Oman and the Gulf region is closely linked to Egypt’s national security. The talks also addressed the broader military escalation in the region, with both sides highlighting the importance of Arab coordination and intensified diplomatic efforts to contain tensions and end the conflict. Abdelatty further called for a serious Arab dialogue on post-war security arrangements aimed at preventing further instability across the region. At the conclusion of the meeting, Sultan Haitham praised the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and highlighted the role of Egyptian companies in development projects across Oman. During his visit to Muscat, the Egyptian foreign minister also met Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, where both sides discussed efforts to end the war and coordinate Arab positions in response to regional challenges. The two ministers condemned military attacks targeting Arab countries and stressed the need for an immediate halt to hostilities while upholding international law and the United Nations Charter. The visit to Muscat marked the third stop in Abdelatty’s regional tour aimed at coordinating Arab positions and supporting diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
