Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed regional de-escalation efforts and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza in a Monday phone call. Abdelatty emphasized the necessity of regional and international efforts to prioritize diplomacy and prevent tensions from threatening global peace. In the call, he warned against the “dangerous repercussions” of expanding conflict in the Middle East, calling for intensified coordination to avoid “uncalculated consequences” and total chaos. Regarding Gaza, Abdelatty stressed the importance of empowering the National Committee for Gaza Management. He described this as a vital step in the transitional phase toward enabling the Palestinian National Authority to assume full responsibilities in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The ministers also touched upon the Ukrainian crisis. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s stance on seeking a peaceful settlement through dialogue and diplomatic means to maintain international stability.
