CBE announces extended bank holiday for Eid al-Fitr 2026

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Egyptian Cabinet have officially declared a five-day paid holiday in observance of Eid al-Fitr 2026. According to an official statement released by the Central Bank of Egypt, the banking sector will observe the holiday starting Thursday, March 19, 2026, through Tuesday, March 24, 2026. In a parallel announcement, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly confirmed that the national holiday for the public sector will also begin on Thursday, March 19. Per the Prime Minister’s decree, this period will be a fully paid leave for employees across several sectors, including ministries and government departments, general authorities, local administration units, public sector companies and public business sector companies.
