Al-Sisi, Indonesia’s President Prabowo discuss Middle East tensions, bilateral cooperation

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received a phone call on Monday from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations, the Egyptian presidency said. According to a statement, the Indonesian president extended Eid al-Fitr greetings to Al-Sisi and the Egyptian people, with both leaders exchanging congratulations on the occasion. The call addressed escalating tensions in the Middle East, with Al-Sisi outlining Egypt’s efforts to contain the situation and curb further escalation, while warning of its potential economic and security repercussions on both regional and global stability. Al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the sovereignty and security of Arab states, rejecting any violations of their stability under any pretext, the statement added. For his part, Subianto expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in promoting regional stability and underscored the importance of de-escalation, as well as continued coordination with Cairo. The two leaders also reviewed their strategic partnership, agreeing on the need to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
